HABITAT
Habitat and Range- The African wild dog lives in grasslands, savannas, and open woodlands of eastern and southern Africa. They are mostly found in the African plains, but do not live in jungle areas. They also live in parts of Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, and in the Transvaal of South Africa.
Predators/Enemies- The African Wild Dogs predator is a human. Even though this animal is protected in parks and reserves, wild dog populations have declined to the point that packs may no longer be able to survive. In some areas they are close to extinction.
Defense Mechanisms- An African Wild Dog are expert hunters. They have camouflage on their fur. They can run 72.5 mph but it feels like 130.5 mph. Wow they're fast.
Threats- Major threats to the survival of wild dogs include accidental and targeted killings by humans, viral diseases like rabies and distemper, habitat loss and competition with larger predators like lions.
